RECRUITMENT REGULATIONS 2020-2021

Warsaw Montessori High School (WMHS admission policy)  to first class in the Polish system, and first class in the international system (program IBDP)

 

Recruitment to preperatory class I of High School WMHS

1. Conditions for the entrance examination:

a) A candidate for class I WMHS is a student, who within the prescribed period in person or through their parents

  • submits a completed applicated form
  • submits payment for the examination

b) The amount of the exam fee is determined by the school director.

c) The candidate is allowed to enter the examination room with an entrance card.

2. Structure of the entrance examination:

a) The basis for admission to the First class of WMHS is passing of the entrance examination.

b) The entrance examination is carried out by the Recruitment Committee appointed by the school director. The commission is chaired by the school director or a teacher appointed by him or her.

c) The exam consists of a written part and an oral part.

d) The written part has three sections:

  • an examination of the English language
  • an examination of mathematics
  • an examination of the Polish language

e) The oral part is in the form of an interview.

3. Conducting and system for assessing initial written examinations:

a) A candidate is admitted to the examination room on the basis of their school ID and entry card. Absence from the examination disqualifies the candidate.

b) All examinations are coded and checked by the members of the Recruitment Committee.

c) All exams are graded on a scale from 0-10 points.

d) A candidate passes the written examination if he or she has:

  • from all subjects receives at least a total of 15 pts.
  • has not less than

2 pts.    from the Polish language and mathematics

2 pts.    from the English language

4. Interview:

a) The interview is conducted in English.

b) The interview revolves around the general issues such as self, a student’s interests, their life at school, society, and family.

c) The interview is assessed on a scale of 0 – 10 points. A student receives a positive evaluation if they have received not less than 5 points.

5. Conditions for exemption from the examinations:

  • Students who have received the title of finalist or laureate in the subjects of mathematics, Polish, or English are exempted from the relevant parts of the examination and receive the maximum number of points for them.

6. Examination scores:

a) The list of people admitted to WMHS will be announced on April 8.

b) The Recruitment Committee has the right to create a waiting list. Candidates are placed on it according to the ordering of the results obtained on the examination.

c) Written work is not available for inspection. The Recruitment Commission will prepare a review of the work at the written request of the parents of the candidates.

7. Admission requirements:

a) The decision on admission to the school is made by the director in consultation with the Recruitment Committee based on the results of the entrance examinations.

b) Candidates who are on the admission list are guaranteed a place at WMHS provided that:

  • they pay a nonrefundable recruitment fee of 1000 PLN, payable within seven days of the announcement of the results.
  • they submit to the school office the original reports from the eighth grade of primary school, or another document certifying completion of the second stage of education.

c) Failure to meet the above conditions means resignation from the school. The student is struck from the register of students and put in their place in the waiting list in order.

d) The director during the school year has two available places at their discretion.

Admission Requirements for the IB DP Programme for the last 2 years of study at WMHS.

1. Conditions for the entrance examination:

d) A candidate for candidacy to the IB programme at WMHS is a student, who within the prescribed period in person or through their parents

  • submits a completed applicated form
  • submits payment for the examination

e) The amount of the exam fee is determined by the school director.

f) The candidate is allowed to enter the examination room with an entrance card.

2. Structure of the entrance examination:

f) The basis for admission to the IB programme at WMHS is passing of the entrance examination.

g) The entrance examination is carried out by the Recruitment Committee appointed by the school director. The commission is chaired by the school director or a teacher appointed by him or her.

h) The exam consists of a written part and an oral part.

  • The written part has six sections from the six subject areas they intend to enroll in
  • The oral part is in the form of an interview.

e) A candidate is admitted to the examination room on the basis of their school ID and entry card. Absence from the examination disqualifies the candidate.

f) All examinations are coded and checked by the members of the Recruitment Committee.

g) All exams are graded on a scale from 0-100 points.

h) A candidate passes the written examination if he or she has not less than 70% grade from any subject area

4. Interview:

d) The interview is conducted in English.

e) The interview revolves around the general issues such as self, a student’s interests, their life at school, society, and family.

f) The interview is assessed on a scale of 0 – 10 points. A student receives a positive evaluation if they have received not less than 7 points.

6. Conditions for exemption from the examinations:Students who participate in the WMHS preparatory program are exempt from the need to pass the examination. Such students will be admitted if they are able to achieve a final grade of at least a 4 on a scale of 1 to 7 in subjects they intend to take at a higher level.
