An Erasmus Plus trip to Barcelona

On Sunday, we arrived at the airport in Barcelona. After a ride to the city by the metro, we left our belongings in the hotel and left for dinner: paella for everyone from a local restaurant. After that, we made our way to the Plaça De Catalunya and went for an evening walk down the Passeig De Gràcia, seeing, among others, two buildings designed by architect Antoni Gaudí – the Casa Battló and La Pedrera. It was a great first evening and a prelude to what the rest of the trip had in store for us.

On Monday, we went to the Escola Voramar as part of our Erasmus Plus trip. The Spanish students introduced us to the typical Spanish food and gave us a different perspective the IB programme. Later, we went to their Global Politics class. We presented our school to the Spanish IB 1 students and they presented to us how their global politics class looks like. After that we had a TOK class, in which we did some group activities together. Later, when we had finished the classes, the Spanish students gave us a tour around the city. We visited some famous locations, such as Catedral de Barcelona and The Kiss of Freedom mural. In the evening we went to a tapas restaurant to try different dishes. We got the amazing opportunity to get to know the Spanish students as well as their culture and their city.

Tuesday was one of the most amusing days on our trip to Barcelona. In the morning we had English classes with Barcelona’s IB1 class and then we had TOK classes with IB2. In TOK we got to debate with the Barcelona Students about an interesting topic. After classes, the  Barcelona IB students (both IB1 and IB2), Danish IB students and us went to the beach by the school together to do some integration activities. Some of us even swam in the ocean. Afterwards we went to the Old Town. We had some free time to walk around the city and look at some sights. Afterwards we, as a group, have gone to a restaurant to eat some tapas.

On Wednesday we spent the whole day visiting tourist attractions and getting to see the cities top architectural monuments and museums. We began our day with visiting the Sant Pau hospital, La Sagrada Familia and the Moco Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Later, in the city centre, we had time to shop and explore the city on our own and ended the day with a delicious, traditional Spanish dinner.
