Dante Alighieri – an Interdisciplinary Symposium
To commemorate the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri (1265- 1321), an Interdisciplinary Symposium was organized in Warsaw Montessori High School in early December. Professor Tim Clapham delivered a fascinating keynote lecture on Dante and economics which was followed by a short Q&A session.
Students did their presentations on various topics, such as the vision of Hell and Heaven in the Divine Comedy, the influence of Dante’s masterpiece on music and the arts in various epochs, the structure and the symbolism of the Divine Comedy, the political situation in Florence and the admiration of Dante’s work in Italy.
At the end of the symposium, prizes were awarded to the students.
