Trip to Łódź
Day One
We started our tour of Łódź in the spot related to the Jewish history of the city. We visited the Reicher Synagogue – the only synagogue that survived the Second World War. Not only did the students have the opportunity to admire the interior of this extraordinary building, but also they could learn about the basic principles of Judaism.
After lunch we took part in a guided tour to the Manufaktura area and famous Piotrkowska Street, where the phenomenal Rosa’s Passage was especially enchanting.
How will Łódź surprise us today?
Day Two
On Tuesday we visited the Museum of the City of Łódź located in the beautiful Israel Poznański Palace, known as the Louvre of Łódź. In the magnificent ballroom some of us got carried away and started to dance.
After visiting the Center, we went for a walk to the Survivors’ Park. In the afternoon we went to Piotrkowska street, which revealed more of its secrets to us.
The next stop was the Center of Dialogue, where the students had the opportunity to learn about Litzmannstadt Ghetto and about Marek Edelman’s life and heritage.
Day Three
On the third and final day we focused ourselves on the cinematic aspect of Łódź. We visited the Museum of Cinematography, where the students got acquainted with the history of the movie production and had the opportunity to admire old projectors and cameras (e.g. kinetoscope, magic lantern, panopticon).
Afterwards we went to Targowa street to show students the famous Łódź Film School.
