Activities
In Warsaw Montessori High School the students become powerful adolescents and vibrant members of Warsaw Montessori community. As of July 2020, we have been authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Montessori philosophy and the IB program aim to create curious, independent, reflective individuals with a focus on noble work, and a broader worldview. We only need to look at the qualities the IB program advocates in its Learner Profile, such as reflective, risk-takers, open-minded, principled, to see that the same principles were the goals of Maria Montessori in educating children. Just like Maria Montessori in her Erdkinder school philosophy, the International Baccalaureate stresses that noble work (i.e., CAS – Creativity, Activity, Service) must be a crucial part of educating the adolescents together with a pursuit of their rigorous academic program.
The DP does not dictate the method of instruction, allowing the pursuit of the Erdkinder philosophy side by side with the IB diploma. IB students are able to study six subjects of their choice, fulfill CAS, develop their research skills by writing an Extended Essay.
The student-centered approaches of both the IB program and Montessori education go hand in hand in creating a student who will be a lifelong learner, and a conscientious citizen of the world.
